Shea & McMurdie is a family business. Father and sons Greg, Scott and Eric McMurdie devote their careers to help secure the best future possible for you, their client.

Greg has spent the past 35+ years building his business, his dreams, and those of his clients. He prides himself in the fact that he practices in his own life the principles he teaches to clients. With his wife of 42 years, they have raised 8 children; each completing college with no debt. He is now working toward retirement as two of his sons implement his succession plan.
A 1973 graduate of Brigham Young University with a degree in Business Management, Greg has gone on to obtain multiple certifications, including Certified Financial Planner, Chartered Financial Consultant, Certified Employee Benefit Specialist, and has been designated a Retirement Plans Associate. In 2004 Greg was asked to teach at Southern Methodist University as part of the Certification program for Financial Planning.
Greg is a past board member of the Garland Chamber of Commerce and Best Education Foundation and is a qualifying lifetime member of the Million Dollar Roundtable.
Greg is fluent in Spanish and recently returned from a serving an 18 month mission for his church to Chile, South America. He enjoys as much time as he can spare on the golf course, and enjoying his 31 grandchildren.
In volatile economic times, it can be hard to stay steady. Scott McMurdie strives to be steady. “Understanding the big picture of any situation is really the best approach to take.” Scott said. “Not panicking and following a process will help you survive.”
“I have learned that following a process and keeping your cool will assist in achieving your goals and being effective.“ Scott recalled. “If I don’t learn the process and be patient, I won’t be able to do my job.”
So it is with retirement planning.
“Our business is about managing expectations and helping our clients see the big picture.” Scott said. “There is nothing more satisfying to me than assisting our clients in achieving their financial goals.”
A graduate of both Brigham Young University and SMU’s Certificate Program in Financial Planning, Scott is a CFP® practitioner, and a Qualified Plan Financial Consultant (QPFC). Fluent in Spanish, he holds Series 7, 24, 53, 63, 66 registrations and a Group 1 insurance license. He is also a registered principal, managing other branch offices in addition to Shea and McMurdie Retirement.
Scott sits on the Board of the Garland Chamber of Commerce as well as the Board of the Garland ISD Education Foundation. He volunteers with the Boy Scouts, having earned his Eagle rank as a Scout himself. He and his wife have four children. In the little spare time available Scott enjoys improving his golf game.

Eric joined Shea & McMurdie Financial in 2007 after earning his bachelor’s degree in Business Management with an emphasis in Finance from Brigham Young University. He holds Series 7, 66 and Life/Health insurance licenses.
Eric is also a graduate of the SMU Certificate Planning in Financial Planning and earned the CFP® designation which gives him the breadth of knowledge to assist clients with their financial needs. Additionally, he has earned his Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®) designation through FI360 and his Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor designation with the National Association of Plan Advisors.
Eric and his wife are proud parents of four children. He enjoys being fully engaged in their interests and their activities. Additionally, Eric has many responsibilities through his church that allow him opportunities to give back in serve. Eric is an avid sports fan and enjoys the occasional woodworking project. Like Scott and Greg, Eric is fluent in Spanish.
